Ashely Josephine
I am a tattoo artist; not a tattooer. Neither is better nor worse, we just specialize in a different type of process based on our unique interests and skill sets, but it is important that potential clientele understand the difference. See, tattooers tattoo whatever you ask them to–their business comes primarily from walk-in type clientele, and often they work out of a portfolio book and are very adept at a variety of styles. Tattoo artists create artwork that conveys a refined personal vision and style. My background is in fine art–oil painting, specifically. I have a large body of visionary artwork that my tattoo practice grew out of, so to speak, and I only work with clientele that is interested in working with a tattoo artist. If you are looking for a quick design that is very narrow in scope and extremely specific to your pre-concieved vision of what it should be, I recommend you find a reputable shop that specializes in walk-in appointments.
