Frequently Asked Questions

How can I book an appointment?

If you have an idea for a larger custom piece and already know which artist you would like to be tattooed by, you can contact them directly through their artist page/instagram. You can also email the shop at utopiatattooart@gmail.com or call (530)537-2303 to get booked.

If you’re interested in a smaller piece, we are open Wednesday-Sunday for walk-ins.

Tell me more about your cancellation policy.

Most of our artists require a nonrefundable deposit prior to your tattoo appointment with a 24-48 hour cancellation window. Please refer to your specific artist’s booking and cancellation policies for any details regarding rescheduling or cancellations. If you must cancel or reschedule your appointment, you will need to contact your artist directly with as much notice as possible. Any day-of cancellations/ no call no shows will result in a forfeit of the deposit.

How can I pay for my tattoo?

Cash is always preferred but many of our artists also accept venmo, paypal, and zelle.

Do I need to tip my tattoo artist?

Tips are always appreciated but not compulsory. Tipping is ingrained in tattoo culture as it represents appreciation for your artist and a job well done but is not technically required. Many artists also appreciate non-cash tips such as food, art, and other goodies. A typical cash tip is anywhere from $20-$100 depending on the size and length of your tattoo appointment.

What can I expect during my tattoo appointment?

Here at Utopia, our artists are always respectful and professional. You can expect a collaborative experience where you and your artist work together to create a beautiful and long-lasting adornment for your body. You can also expect a clean, calming, and friendly environment with good vibes, beautiful art and plants to look at.

Can I bring people with me to my appointment?

It is generally recommended that you arrive alone for your appointment as extra people hanging around can distract you and your artist from the task at hand (i.e. creating a beautiful and permanent piece of art). If you must bring someone as a support person, we have a designated waiting area for guests and ask that they stay clear of the procedure area to minimize the risk of contamination.

Can I bring my kid to my appointment?

We recommend that people do not bring minors into the tattoo shop as there are physical hazards as well as biohazards present. We prioritize all our client’s safety and aim to keep a safe and clean environment.

If you must bring your child with you, they need to be accompanied by an adult and be able to stay in the waiting area and be well behaved for the duration of your appointment.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

In order to ensure a pleasant and productive experience for you and your artist, please arrive to your appointment on time, sober, rested, hydrated and well fed.

Wear dark clothes that you won’t mind getting stained and that has easy access to the area being tattooed.

For any other questions, refer to our aftercare section.
